The Sherman Statue: Due to strong southern sentiment, more than 100 years passed before a Sherman statue was unveiled on July 2, 2000 during Lancaster's bicentennial celebration. The statue was funded by public contributions raised through the efforts of William T. Sherman Memorial Committee. Designed by Mike Major, the life sized statue is located on Zane Square in the center of downtown Lancaster, Ohio at the corner of Main and Broad Street
